Change classes, risks and Approval roles

Change Management 6 levels of change types

Synopsis

In any IT project, adaptability to the change in business is a must. Changes happen and the IT department needs to be prepared for it all the time. No project is immune to it. And change is fact of life.

In the infographic above, the approval matrix is shown.
There are a total of 6 types of changes:

1. Normal
2. Emergency
3. Expedited
4. Latent
5. Standard
6. No-Impact

The risks are categorized too, into 5 levels with 5 being the highest risk.

The roles of the approvers are as follows:

a. Change Manager
b. Business Owner
c. Service Assurance
d. Major Incident Manager
e. Change Process Management
f. Change Advisory Board

The Approvers have roles that are associated to Review, Business, Implementation and Closure approvals which has been depicted as approval Gate.

The infographic presents a clear picture of who is responsible for what kind of approval and the associated risk level. You can add/delete based on your own individual requirement in your organization. This provides a clear path of delegating responsibility within your organization.
